Renderer panel. You can resize this by changing the window
size then clicking the Resize button.
GenesisIV uses advanced OpenGL rendering facilities and on less capable cards
you may see artifacts or the landscape may not render at all. Please check
out our FAQ and Forums for details.
Click to display Atmosphere dialog,
which controls rendering parameters.
Both the simple overlay render and the photorealistic renderer draw the full
sky, although with the simple renderer you may wish to check the Override
Sky Quality to Maximum checkbox to draw at full quality.
Click to display Clouds dialog, which controls the cloud density, coverage, colours and type.
Click to display Fractal dialog, this controls non-layer textures and surfaces as well as general render quality.
Click to display Water dialog which controls water colours, textures and behaviour.
Click to open Layers editor. Layers may contain
Click to open Vegetation editor. This controls types and densities of available vegetation
Render buttons. The Simple Renderer draws the landscape surface using the current heightfield colouring and image overlay as used on the main window. The Photorealistic Renderer uses fractalization techniques to generate a photorealistic image of the surface. The Simple Renderer can include 3D models, and the Photorealistic Render may draw models and vegetation. Both renders draw a photorealistic sky.
Resize button. Because the rendering canvas is an OpenGL window it cannot be automatically resized. Instead resize the whole window then click this button to resize the canvas.
Window controls. Print or save the image to a file, or exit the Renderer window
Rendering options.
Check Draw Vegetation and Models to included these in the render
(vegetation is only drawn for the photorealistic renderer).
By default the simple renderer draws the sky at lowest quality, check Override
Sky Quality to change this.
Time shows the time to draw the last render in milliseconds.

GenesisIV Tutorial: The Render window |
| This is the Renderer window. When first displayed the program draws the image as a surface with an image overlay as used in the main window. Clicking Full Photo Render draws the image using the photorealistic fractal renderer. The various buttons give access to specialized dialogs to control rendering. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
