2.1 I've entered a Tartan pattern and it isn't displayed correctly
1.1 How do
I run FabricWeaver? - I can't find the program to run!
FabricWeaver is a plugin, not a stand-alone program. It requires
a host program to run, such as Adobe Photoshop.
1.2 What programs
support FabricWeaver? How much memory do I need?
Any program that supports the Photoshop 4 plugin API or later should
run FabricWeaver. We reqularly run the plugin ourselves with Photoshop
7 and PaintShop Pro 8, but all versions of Photoshop after 4 and
Paintshop Pro after 7 appear to function fine.
1.3 How much
memory do I need?
FabricWeaver is a memory intensive plugin as it requires to process
large images to generate it's realistic textures. Generally this
isn't a major issue and most users experience no problem, but if
you system has a many plugins loaded and restricted memory then
you may find FabricWeaver fails to load properly. Remove you other
plugins and retry - we havn't found a case yet where this doesn't
work.
1.4 Is there
a Mac version?
Not yet, but one is planned. Please email us if interested and we
will let you know as soon as it becomes available.
1.5 Where
can I find more fabric patterns?
The registered version includes about a dozen additional Scots tartan
patterns, and more are planned. We do have a 3rd party CD for sale
(USD$30) which includes details of all tartans registered by the
Scottish Tartans Society - please contact us for details.
1.6 Where
can I find more support?
We have a website at www.tartansonline.com
desdicated to Tartan patterns, or try our forums.
2.1
I've entered a Tartan pattern and it isn't displayed correctly
By far the most common reason for this is that the repeating unit
of your tartan is too large. FabricWeaver internally allocates an
image of the repeating unit for your tartan, but the maximum size
of this is 1024 pixels (which corresponds to 256 threads). If your
tartan design requires a larger image the tartan will not be displayed
correctly. In practice this should not be a significant issue as
all tartans in the Scottish Tartans Society registry would be displayed
correctly and tartans larger than the critical size would not be
woven on looms currently in use.
